Even after being barbarously rough up and evicted at Cord’s Parliamentary Group on Thursday, the ODM Executive Director Magerer Langa’at has asked his supporters to exercise restraint as the issue is addressed.
Addressing journalists at a Hotel in Niarobi, the former Kipkelion MP said “This is barbaric and cowardly and shows that some sections of Kenyans are allergic to individual freedoms as enshrined in the Bill of rights and are intolerant to divergent views,”
This is the second attempt on the life of Magerer nearly the same circumstances by the same actors, ‘Men in Black, on February 28 during the party’s election at Safaricom Stadium in Kasarani where elections were aborted.
Besides the famous men in black who disrupted the elections, this time, some Members of County Assembly (MCAs) from Nairobi County were involved.
Led by Leader of Majority Elias Otieno, the MCAs alleged that Magerer has been a liability to the party and accused him of demeaning the party leader Raila Odinga as an old man who should not vie for the 2017 presidential election.
“He has been a liability to the party. We don’t want to see him here again. If he want to remain, then he will only remain as an ordinary member of the party not an Excutive Diretor,” said otieno
“The despicable act of assault on me was painful and shameful. It’s even worse that such acts were performed by our elected leaders and senior political leaders,” a painful Magerer said
A section of media reports that Magerer at a meeting of Political Parties Disputes Tribunal in Nakuru claims that ODM is ‘dead’ and the party leader is too old to vie again.
Mr Magerer is the only leader from the Rift region who remained with Odinga with Franklin Bett, Deputy President William Ruto and Bomet Governor Isaack Rutto ditched the party and joined United Republican Party (URP).
Governors, Senators, MPs and MCAs allied to Jubilee from the Rift Valley have condemned the dehumanization of Magerer.
